Client Brief
The homeowners approached Traditional Pools looking to completely revitalise their ageing outdoor swimming pool. The existing pool had become tired, inefficient, and visually dated. They wanted a modern, low-maintenance system that would allow for comfortable year-round swimming, while also elevating the entire look of their garden.
A key part of the brief was to move away from traditional chlorine and create a softer, more enjoyable swimming experience, without compromising water quality, safety, or performance.
The Starting Point
As the “before” images show, the pool was structurally sound but visually and technically outdated. The water clarity and finish no longer reflected the quality of the surrounding property, and the system lacked the efficiency and comfort the homeowners were looking for.
This project required not just cosmetic improvement, but a full modernisation of the pool’s internal systems and finishes.
Scope of Works
On-Site Lining Installation

We installed a premium on-site reinforced lining in a rich emerald green finish, delivering the luxurious appearance of mosaic tiling without the maintenance complexity. The chosen colour beautifully complements the surrounding landscaping and soft planting, creating a natural, reflective water tone.
Saltwater Conversion
The pool was converted from a traditional chlorine system to a saltwater chlorination system. This provides:
· Softer water feel on skin and eyes
· Reduced harsh chemical odour
· Lower ongoing chemical handling
· More stable water balance
The result is a gentler and more enjoyable swimming experience.
New Automatic Safety Cover
A new integrated safety cover was installed, enhancing safety for children and pets around the pool area.
It also maintains the clean, minimal aesthetic of the pool when not in use and its motor means it’s easy to cover and uncover the pool with minimal effort.
Air Source Heat Pump Installation
To make the pool suitable for all-year-round swimming, we installed a high-efficiency air source heat pump. This energy-efficient solution allows the homeowners to extend their swimming season well into winter, with controlled and economical heating.
Surround & Finishing Details
The surrounding porcelain paving and landscaping provide a crisp, contemporary frame for the pool. The emerald lining was intentionally selected to contrast subtly with the light stone surround, creating a striking yet natural aesthetic.
