Client Brief
Traditional Pools was commissioned to carry out a full restoration of a residential swimming pool in Great Dunmow. The client's goal was to bring their ageing outdoor pool up to modern standards, restoring its functionality, safety, and aesthetic appeal while preserving key features such as the surrounding glass balustrade. The project was timed perfectly to ensure the pool would be winter-ready and set for a smooth opening in the following season.
Scope of Work
This renovation required a full structural and cosmetic upgrade to both the pool and its immediate surroundings. From internal modifications to external finishes, the pool was transformed into a clean, efficient, and visually appealing space, ready for years of use to come.
Project Highlights and Upgrades
Full Drain Down and Pressure Test:
The project began with a complete water drain-down and pressure test to assess the integrity of the pool structure and pipework.
Removal of Existing Surrounds:
We carefully removed the original one-piece concrete coping surround and the surrounding pool paving to allow for a refreshed layout and modern finish.
Render and Screed:
The pool interior was fully rendered and screeded to create a smooth, solid base for lining and ensure long-term structural stability.
Internal Corner Steps:
New internal corner steps were added to enhance accessibility, safety, and visual appeal, providing a sleek, space-saving entry point.
New Fittings Installed:
A new skimmer, return inlets, and an LED pool light were installed, improving circulation, water clarity, and evening ambiance.
On-Site Lining Installation:
We applied a new on-site pool lining, custom-fitted for a seamless, watertight, and low-maintenance finish.
Solar Bubble Cover and Winter Net:
A solar bubble cover was provided for energy-efficient heat retention, along with a winter debris net to keep the pool clean during the off-season.
Glass Balustrade Removed & Reinstalled:
The surrounding glass balustrade was carefully removed at the start of the project and professionally reinstalled to preserve the modern aesthetic and safety of the area.
New Coping Stones and Pool Surround:
Fresh coping stones and a new pool surround were laid with precision, delivering a high-end, cohesive finish to the outdoor space.
